Lauren is at CHLA this morning getting ready for her stem cell transfusion. Very stressful morning. Since Hilary and kids stayed at the grandparent's house they had to get up at 5:30 am so they could get to CHLA by 8 am. Lauren complained of a headache again. She usually wakes up with a headache, which is not good. The doctor indicated that headaches in morning is a sign of a tumor or tumor activity. The doctor was glad to hear she was not showing other signs like vomiting and slurred speech. Except this morning Lauren threw up on the way down the hill from the grandparent's house and Hil thought her speech was a little slurred, as if her tongue was swollen. However, as anyone who's been to the grandparents' house will tell you, to get you have to take a very long curvy road and her body is full of chemo, so, it's hard to tell why she threw up. Lauren speech is already back to normal. So… we are just keeping close eye, a very close eye on her.

In the beginning of March we noticed a personality change in Lauren who normally is a very outgoing and happy-go-lucky kid. She became very clingy and shy. She didn't want to talk on the phone anymore, or play on the slide with the other kids at pre-school. By mid-March, Lauren started complaining about headaches. Her pediatrician thought it might be a sinus infection or that she may need glasses. He put her on antibiotics and we made an eye appointment.
A few days later when she started holding her head funny and her headaches returned we insisted on a CT scan. That's when her pediatrician sent us to the ER at Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) for a CT scan, and when our world was turned upside down and our nightmare began...
