Lauren was up at CHLA yesterday getting her chemo. What potentially could have been a long day due to getting there late, it was a 2+ hour commute to CHLA because of the "dumb" Lakers' parade (I'm a Clippers' Spirit fan!), it ended up not being too bad (they got home by 8 p.m.). Lauren did great. She didn't get or feel sick. In fact, she said had a good time (she just wished she wasn't attached to the IV pole), because all our favorite people (nurses, doctors, child life, PA) were there (all except for Anna Evans, PA, who I hear will be returning from maternity leave soon(Yeah!). Dr. Finlay came by to say "hi." He's been extra nice to us (not that he is never not nice to us), even asking Hilary how she is feeling, since Lauren spilled the beans that we are going to name the new baby after him. He also invited us to the HEAD Start party for all the patients and survivors that were on the Head Start protocol. Even though Lauren wasn't officially in the HEAD Start study, she still qualifies since she followed the protocol. Head Start is the high-dose chemo regiment she was on that was developed by Dr. Finlay. While it would have been nice to see and meet other survivors that went through the Head Start program, we're probably not going to go since it's in New York. Oh well.
